Let's face it, all these Eastern Europeans deserve a bit of fun, after all they've been shackled to the yoke of the Russian Bear for the last 50 years. In the old days they would have been sent for beatings and starvation to a Gulag, for having such fun!
They might never vote for us, but they will be dancing to our music in their clubs tonight!
By the way did anyone notice the babe in the hot-pants dancing in the Czech Republic's entry ?(Got disqualified unfortunately)

I don't know what's more cringeworthy.Eurovision,X Factor or that programme Britain's Gone Mad !laugh!
I say replace Eurovision with it's a knockout or a Gladiators style competition involving European Nations.Would certainly increase the viewing audience !happy!.

Ireland had been voting, and they gave the UK 8 points - with 12 points going to Latvia (the pirates), and 10 to Poland (the woman with the scary teeth), apparently some ex-pats voting for their home countries there.

I put this bit up in the forum about Terry Wogan:-
"A few years ago Wogan made the point that the countries which pump the most money into Eurovision(UK,France,Spain,Germany,Italy I think)now consistently get the lowest points.Perhaps the Eastern Bloc should take the bulk of the financial responsibilty particularly as the contest is almost exclusively held in Eastern Europe these days."
It seems incredible that they even bother with songs really as it's clearly now just a case of phenomenal back scratching/arse licking.
Terry even said at one point "well it's Russia's turn this year!".
The joke always used to be we could never get the ashes back off the Aussies or win the world cup again but to be honest the odds are better for us to win either of those than Eurovsion ever again!

UK,France,Spain,Germany put up most of the cash. That's why the four countries get automatic entry.

I would disagree that it's always been like this. After all pre Eastern Bloc it did seem that genuinely any country could win it.Hence a variety of different countries with different political backgrounds getting the win, with I think Ireland being the most successful winners.
If you want an unusual view on Eurovision check out "Nul Point" by Tim Moore where he tries to track down as many of the Eurovision Nul Pointers as possible.Generally speaking the nul pointers were memorable for the sheer awfulness of their performances.Which makes the votes that Spain and particularly France's efforts at this years contest got all the more incredible. In previous years they would have been Nul Pointers for sure but benfitted from some "generous" voting
Cary Grant the singing coach made the point yesterday that Andy Abraham could have replicated the Russian entry and would still not have won it.

Maybe it's just a lot more blatant and widespread these days
