It may be a thing with public schools, but you have actively described 99% of those drawn to a career in politics full stop.
They masquerade under being "right honourable" and fulfilling a duty to the electorate and spend their lives feathering their own nests and subjugating others with rules, rules so often with clauses in so that they apply to THEM

They're locking them up today, they're throwing away the key...I wonder who it be tomorrow, you or me?

They think that they are better than you or I...this nonsense of someone on a council estate with a 4x4 and a patio being 'looked after' by the Tories.
