Be a lot easier and cheaper if they go down though!

Plus they'd even stand a chance of actually WINNING something (next season's "Championship").

"Ashley tried to sell Newcastle. No one would touch it with a bargepole."

Not true. Ashley had several firm offers for Newcastle Utd, although none of them met his asking price.

At present the fastest moving object in the universe is a quasar; if you drop it will be Michael Owen's car blasting down the A1 towards his home in Wales....

That would probably be a good thing, together with a lot more of the high paid players at the club.
Owen certainly has not done a deal for the club to warrant his high wage bill. I get the impression he has no interest in the club and will be away anyway when his contract runs out at the end of this season, if he can find another club.
I am the first to recognize he has been unlucky with injuries.

If they do go down hopefully it will give them the chance to clear out the high paid players many of which would not be suitable for playing in the Championship anyway. To get out of the Championship you need Championship players and not high paid stars.
I think Leeds have found this in League 1.

I wonder if some of the other clubs will let them win enough matches to stay in the Premiership. With their gates of 40,000- 50.000 there is a lot of revenue to be lost, compared with many teams only getting 20.000 gates.

I don't really see what all the fuss is about. Newcastle have always been a yo yo club at best. I would guess that thier present stay in the top filght is thier longest without going down since the war at least.
They had a brush with fame under Keegan and the Car-Toon Army milked all they could from it. The only people shocked at NUFC 's "plight" are the post 1992 supporters.

Home clubs keep their gate receipts in the Premier League, so presumably you are clumsily referring to the travelling Newcastle fans who you think will swell the coffers of the clubs they visit.

Not true of the top clubs of course, who sell their home matches out anyway.

James. Newcastle would fill st james in or out of the premiership, that's why I say it's a big club, I personally think they will just nudge it this season, but Ashley needs to go.

Not strictly true. Newcastle Utd's stadium capacity is 52,387 and their average home attendance this season is 48,219.

That's 92% of capacity and if they get relegated expect that to slide.
