why tape over disc o wise one?

Ah Grasshopper, sit down and learn !laugh!.

Not having used DVD camcorders my info is only based on what I have gleaned from reading others comments and technical specs.

Some (most?) DVD camcorder manufacturers use a proprietory recording format which makes the disc incompatible with standard DVD players. Should you use someone else to do your video editing then it could be very difficult for them to load the video to their PC.

(Note: I do stand to be corrected by those who's knowledge be greater than mine).

MiniDV tape on the other hand is a "standard". High definition MiniDV tapes will play back on any High Definition MiniDV camcorder/player. Standard Definition MiniDV tapes will play back on any Standard Definition MiniDV camcorder/player (and should also play back on any High Definition MiniDV camcorder/player, albeit only in Standard Definition).

In other words, MiniDV is an easier format to interchange between yourself and your video editor.

Once you have registered a domain and before you even start to build your site submit it to search engines with the appropriate tags ie: porn sex model anal dp fisting felching farting or whatever, as it can take 6 months for search engines to pick up on submissions, and keep your homepage small as anything that takes more than 4 seconds to open people will just click away from !wink!

So,Tape wins over disc ....Oh Wise!teacher! , is there ALOT of difference between the high definition and the low defination? Does it make much difference to download speed for example?... x

In my humble opinion...yes. Most, if not all, production companies use tape as well.

There is a lot of difference between standard definition and high definition. For example, 1080p high definition has around double the picture resolution of standard definition. It does come at a price though, high definition video files are HUGE so do take much longer to download so a good broadband connection is absolutely necessary (dial up for high definition, forget it, no chance !laugh!).
The thing is though Grasshopper, everyone and his dog is switching to high definition so in the long term it's the only way to go or you'll get left behind.

A lot of sites now give a choice of HD or SD and as it will be years before everyone has a fast connection this is probably the best way to go, of course it will mean more work in building your site but should pay dividends later !wink!
