I have reservations about that. If you only have conviction-politicians you are likely to end up with a weird mix of oddballs that push their very own agenda, a million miles away from what you want, or from what's good for the country.
I don't mind if the MPs are being paid a good wage, though they should not have the power to set the height of those wages (or the rules about their expense claims) themselves.

Of all the things one can accuse the Nazis of you had to pick something that is actually defensible, giving the circumstances Germany was in at the time. !tut!

Re: Greedy MPs
25-28 players in the Man Utd squad earn more money per year than 646 MPs do. Rooney and Ronaldo's wages on their own is more than the whole Lib Dem party combined, and that's before sports endorsements.
Your average Tesco regional manager is getting close to -if not more than depending on bonuses- an MP's salary and that's without the responsibility of representing maybe 50,000 citizens in one of the most influential nations on the planet.
I'd happily give them 120k+ a year if they scrapped the expenses claims.
And for someone complaining of government corruption who has emigrated to Italy............well.......!

An MP's *basic* salary maybe. But it's also without taxpayer-funded second homes and all the other jollies.

It's 2009, Sam - not 1909.

If the fuckers did their jobs effectively I wouldn't disagree (although 100k ought to cover it really). But there are too many lightweights, freeloaders and people who are only there because they tick all the right boxes (female, 'ethnic' or whatever).
Take my own MP back home - fucking useless: Typical trouser-suited "Blair babe" NuLabour lobby-fodder with the second-worst attendance record in Parliament who seems to be more interested in getting her face in the local rag than anything else.

The more that comes out about the disgusting pigs, the more you realise we need a revolution - and they need to be in prison.
