"Scientists tell us that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light, but Michael Owen might prove them wrong as he leaves NUFC faster than the Starship Enterprise."

Owen's contract expires on 30 June. Contrary to what you say, he's actually in no hurry to leave, as he understandably wants to wait and see what offers he gets, rather than sign for the first taker.

I'd much rather have Newcastle in the Championship than the Burnley Dingles.

Worried about Boro though one of my least favourite memories of an away trip was going there and having to watch some of their scum put through every window on the mini bus some mates were travelling in.

Had to watch because we were busy stopping another bunch of their scum putting the windows through on ours and it wasn't nice.

You jest surely James? You don't for a moment think Owen will stay at NUFC to sample the delights of the Championship? He's off. I never said he'd sign the first deal on offer, but the fact is that Newcastle won't see him for dust, and they won't get a penny for him. That was a good bit of business wasn't it?

The chap who plays Zak Dingle supports Burnley. Fact!

Last night on the local news, it was all about the big parade in the Premiership's largest village. Then followed by a party political broadcast for the BNP! The best bit of product placement I have seen in a long time, I was only surprised Nick Griffin wasn't wearing a claret and blue scarf.

"the fact is that Newcastle won't see him for dust"

Since he declined their contract offer, Newcastle must have known for some time that they won't see Michael Owen for dust.

He would lose out financially if he left before 30 June though.

I'm a Sunderland supporter but take little pleasure in N's relegation
.

There's no NE dynamic next season now, with M'boro also gone.
Shearer isn't equipped to bring them back up, but I hope they
[and M, Southgate's a good manager and deserves another
chance] return soon.

Agreed about Southgate and Middlesbrough. They've brought in youth from their academy and because of that they have my respect.

... and it's a novelty to have a manager who's trusted by
his charman : -)
