Hi Sam. You did actually say
"dvd can already hold 75 mins of audio at 192kHz and 24bit and people are already starting to sell albums on dvd (at a higher cost, of course). DVD players are as cheap as cd players these days so putting them in the next hi-fi systems can't be too hard"........ which did kind of imply that most players could play them.
As for your response of people being wary of new technology, rather than power steering and DVD's perhaps you should also remember Betamax, HD-DVD, Intel Viiv, Quadraphonic sound (back in the 70's....I'm old), Video Goggles, Sinclair C5, etc.
I have enjoyed this debate with you though Sam as you've brought up some valid points though.
As for Peter's point about DAB2, I believe stations that have adopted the new AAC+ audio codec are at least a couple of years away at the moment, but thankfully DAB 2 will be backward compatible with existing stations.

Fair enough. Maybe I could have worded it better !happy!
I guess only time will tell whether digital music will evolve and become better or analogue will take back the top spot.
Nice debating with you too, RW.

Thanks for all that info about digital radio. I'm glad people still care about actual sound quality in this generation of kids who only seem to know iPod quality. It's a fear of mine that music consumers are being 'dumbed down' to accept rasping compressed crap so that eventually, that's all we'll get.
