And as for us refusing to answer to the American Government regarding Al-Megrahi. Sorry they can get to fuck!
I didnt personally agree that he should have been released but that was OUR decision to make!
Perhaps Mr Bush wishes to answer to the families of the British servicemen killed in his illegal war fought with the aid of his puppet Blair?

I think the Daily Mail insult is a rather tired and boring attempt to kill of debate.

Yes, really! Not in the old sense of full scale nationalisation of industry perhaps (though Obama has done a fair bit of that), but certainly in the sense of disliking markets, distrusting free enterprise, and having a basic belief that more government is always the answer to our problems. This develops over the years into a larger and larger public sector, supported by a smaller and smaller private sector. Eventually something's got to give. We seem to be at that point now.

I disagree. It's certainly not new, but I think it remains a relevant and useful shorthand to describe an argument being made; I believe it's particularly relevant when an argument is put forward which could be viewed as being pitched to target/connect with "middle England", but on scrutiny isn't fully reflective of the facts and is reported in such a way as to exacerbate the point trying to be made. (I acknowledge you don't see your argument as being defined in those terms).

Re the Obama/Salmond as socialists point; both are left/centre-left politicians so I would suggest it inevitable they would be more favourable of state involvement in certain areas than Tories/Republicans. You seem to believe we are at the tipping point now. Well, I'm not suggesting going any further than at present, but I'm not overly concerned with the balance being struck at the moment.

I am always happy to see public money spent more efficiently, though, so I'm all for better use of existing levels of resource (efficiency of use is a subject covered in much detail in other threads on here, as I'm sure you are aware).

He pulled his trick off by being the big fish in a tiny pond full of incompetant freaks.

There is no one up here who is a patch on him politically.

There are probubly only two heavy hitters in the Scottish Parliament and these are Salmond and Swinney. Unfortunatly they are in the same Party.

Labour, the Tories and the Lib Dems refuse to understand that they need skillful politicians to win here.

I doubt many people could tell you who the leaders of the opposition parties are or indeed any serving members.

They establishment were very complacent the the SNP came along and kicked the shit out of them. The opposition have not even realised what they have done wrong yet.

IE being shit.

I have to agree! But I am very happy with that! For too long Labour have taken us for granted. I unfortunately live in a constituency that saw Labour returned with over 50% of the vote! Again at the last election we, as a nation, overwhelmingly returned MP's who have failed us repeatedly. Then we have the cheek to moan about the tories and the english.
Read the rant from Renton in Trainspotting to hear the truth about Scotland today!

"Obama is a socialist".

If only there were a way of transmitting this to the estimated 1 in 6 Americans who don't get enough food to eat.....

they could probably do with a laugh.
