"Bottom line is the system is at fault for having loopholes in the first place. You can't blame the person using them."

Bullshit.

Its the moral equivalent of Philip Green going into the leukaemia ward and stealing the money out of a kid's hand. "You can't have this operation and post-op drugs. I have my mansion in Monaco to pay off.

Maybe you are happy with that. I am not. We are all responsible for our actions.

David,
I'll ask you just one question and I'll then decide if you live in totally "Johnson World" or if you reside on planet Earth i.e. reality.
No prejudice, just the truth, (might be hard for someone with your political ideology)
Do you know somebody who is claiming benefits illegally?
I assume that you actually visit a pub/social club.
A yes or no will suffice
No reply will count as "yes I know a thief"

"Do you know somebody who is claiming benefits illegally?"

Not personally, but I have no problem accepting that there are people who claim benefits illegally.

That Dick is clearly not the point!

YOu do seem to struggle to understand very basic concepts.

Let me try to explain it another way.

Let's say you live in an area where the lights are turned off after 11pm to save money.

I decide that this would be an ideal opportunity to kill you, when I can get away unseen.

The lights have provided me with an opportunity to kill you, but the action of mine is totally immoral.

Any nearer to having an understanding of what I am on about when I say, "we are all responsible for our actions".

Cheers

And there we have the difference.
I seldom go to the pub nowadays but I could list at least half a dozen benefit cheats without any problem but I would have to do some research before I could name anybody guilty of tax evasion.
You must live in a very nice area or live a very sheltered life.

I am increasingly getting the impression that you cannot follow a basic argument.

Nowhere have I denied there are people claiming benefits illegally. I have given you the government's own estimate of 1.5 billion for benefit fraud.

I oppose your apparent defence of billionaire tax avoiders when you say that at least they are contributing something in council tax, employee wages etc and I have explained why.

For the last time, Dick my point is that the tax loss due to tax evasion and tax avoidance far far far outweighs the losses through benefit fraud. This view is backed up by the Lib Dem Con coalition. Yet in the media and this government, the whole emphasis seems to be on benefit fraud and benefit scroungers and not on the far bigger problem of corporate tax avoidance and tax evasion.

If you cannot get this, than sorry, but I can't make it easier for you to understand.

I can't be arsed to spend any more time responding to comments about what your Grandad believed and how you know a few people down the pub who are fiddling the dole.

Cheers

David, I fully understand your point but you fail to see mine.
Somebody who avoids tax but still pays something in , has got to better than somebody who only takes out.It doesn't matter how much they cream off ----- at the end of the day, they still pay something in. People on benefits do not.
Arithmetic time again ---- paying in = good
taking out = bad
If you can't get your head round that, then I wish you luck in your business.
