It's what they are all in it for. Expenses, salary, EU Commissioner post when you fuck it up in domestic politics and, of course, it helps if you've a background in media, because you can write articles all the time if you wish, and also you can wangle yourself a lovely book deal with serialisation rights thrown in.
If you manage to get power of any kind, you automatically attract wealthy people, prepared to grease your palm if you wish to take that kind of path.
If you get any kind of cabinet position at all, you can almost guarantee a spot in the Lords when you get really bored. So long as you don't completely fuck up the cabinet job.
You know who is going to end up being super wealthy as well, if he hasn't already made himself a few million? Ken Livingstone.

"Are you against inherited wealth David?"
No. What I am against is politicians like Cameron who have had every advantage in life that it is possible to have purely through birth, lecturing the less well off ie. people whose lifestyle they have absolutely no experience of whatsoever and making them pay for the banking crisis with crass, idiotic cliches like "we are all in this together".
We clearly are not.
Cheers

Never understood the hatred towards Prescott either David. He has never pretended to be an intellectual heavyweight, just a bloke proud of his roots who has worked his way up from humble beginnings. Compare him to the likes of Cameron, born with a silver spoon and clueless beyong belief as to what its like to be poor or working class.

Dave,
'We need far greater transparency to ensure not only that justice is done but that it is seen to be done.' quote from Prestcott over the News International Cover Ups....
what I really really despise about the bloke is his hypocracy..he was found out shagging his secretary over the Admiralty desks yet he thinks he can pontificate to others over their morals.surely you can see this?
...what I hate about Mandy is his similar hypocracy...he no more interest in 'the working man' other than when it can benefit himself.Seems a ?8 m house shows he did a good job!

"But you say "Daddy".This to me infers that you disagree"
You have my answer to the question. Whether you believe me or not, is entirely your prerogative.
"It is a patronising term, something you excell in sir".
Well, Porn Historian or whatever you are calling yourself these days, this is a fine example of pot/kettle black.

I find it strange that on a Porn forum, someone is slagging a bloke off for shagging his secretary.
Shagging your secretary is not a crime, as far as I know. Phone hacking whether it be politicians' phones, abducted girl's phones or the phones of dead soldiers' families is a crime.
To argue that someone who has shagged their secretary, is being hypocritical in criticising a huge corporation who has acted like a Mafia in British society doesn't make sense to me.
If Prescot had slagged off a Tory politician for extra-marital affairs that would be hypocritical, not this.
