"In my view the multinationals merely pour oil on the flames of institutionalised corruption that exists amongst the ruling elites that control Africa."
I agree if by that you mean the multinationals pay backhanders to the ruling elites to avoid taxes etc.
The problem with David Johnson's, hand wringing, "Right on" view on the problem, is that it patronises Africans as almost "Child like".
Wrong. I have never said that. If you can't find a statement such as this, then an apology would be in order.
"In other words they instantly and unwillingly yield, to the might of the multinational, brutal, capitalists. The Socialist, "Right-on", view is in effect, profoundlyracist, as it refuses to apportion any blame to the Africans themselves, they are depicted as mere help less, simpletons at the hands of villainous capitalists."
As a representation of my view, this is total crap. Clearly African governments must take their share of the blame as should multinational.
The key point which you havent managed to grasp, Jimbo is that the above is not a reason for stopping foreign aid.
"African ruling elites are like elites anywhere in the World, greedy corrupt bastards, who'll happily see their own people suffer and die to satisfy their own greed"
This has nothing at all to do with my views or arguments so no comment worth making really.
Cheers

Reading your sanctimonious clap-trap, I truly believe you may well be the next Son of God, who has returned to show us all the error of our ways and guide us all to a new enlightened wonderful World of, hand wringing, Islington inspired, Socialist values! Hallelujah!

Jimbo
I see Jimbo rather than discuss the issues which as always you refuse to do, you resort to your collection of jpegs.
I will give this a Jimbo Defcon 3 rating for the moment. It may require a Defcon 4 rating as and when the pictures of Hitler, Pol Pot and Stalin emerge.
I am not sure if Jesus Christ fits in to the Jimbo Defcon 3 or 4 rating.
Have a nice weekend.
Cheers
D
PS The offer for me to write your Defcon 7 posting and emailing it to you so you can use it, remains. However as stated previously, a reference would be nice.

Jimbo, you are a one
David agrees with Jimbo e.g. over Jacqui Smith
http://bgafd.co.uk/forum/read.php?f=3&i=249142&t=249085
"Well done David! Your attempt at evenhandedness is laudable."
David doesn't agree with Jimbo e.g. over foreign aid. Not that I think that Jim understands the point I am making.

David must think himself the son of God if he disagrees with me. How can that be so?
You are a one, Jimbo.

Re: Frank
Oh ho ho David, a psychiatrist might say I struck a raw nerve, or
something similar, with your reply to my simple explanation why I
am not happy with African countries expecting handouts while most
of them....or so it seems....are not prepared to help one another. I
thought my reply was perfectly clear... Sorry if you found it obtuse.
David - can you please stop this patronisingly snide, school prefect
habit of replying to people by taking a sentence at a time, as if you are
Sherlock Holmes deciphering a form of babylonian cuneiform ; it is the
sum total that a short piece like my comment needs to be judged and
I stand by what I say: a) African aid is necessary, but it is most fair if
b) African countries seriously try and help one another.
When 32 do nothing, while schoolboys offer more money than most of
them, I find it shocking and hypocitical of them to take the moral high
ground !
Now, in a few short sentences, Mr Johnson, can you state your position -
is it acceptable for the West to keep shelling out when African nations
refuse to even send, in many cases, even a dime for their "cousins" on
the same continent ?

I have answered this question already whether you can be bothered to read it is a different manner. I will even paste it in again.
""when African nations were asked to try and help one another
with this Horn of Africa problem even many of the big ones did nothing"
I will translate this for you. "If some nation states do not help, we should never help. Makes sense! And if some people starve to death, tough shit"
Clearly, inherent in the above statement Frank, is my view that even if other African countries don't help we should still be be prepared to help starvation victims.
However as I point out elsewhere in the same post "clearly, Mr Johnson, you are willing to turn a blind eye to this
corruption ("poor little African rulers, lets blame the nasty multi-nationals
and old colonial powers" etc). "
This is crap. I do not turn a blind eye. If I state anywhere on this forum that this is acceptable, provide a link. Otherwise stop rambling inaccurately.
Clearly every effort needs to be made to ensure aid is spent correctly.
Do you now understand? Can you please then give me the courtesy of responding to my points that I make in response to your attack?
Again I am prepared to help by providing the link for you

Re: Frank
Frank, what you must understand about David Johnson is that he is completely intellectually crippled by the doctrines of Political Correctness, this why it completely flummoxes me as to why he exists on this forum which is so un-PC it hurts.
Surely our David would be better on some forum entitled something like, "Third World Crippled Lesbians Hop-Scotch Collective and Man Haters Union."
Again, I post this defining article that explains the thought processes that control and define every word and view in David Johnson and his brethren's minds:
It is simply pointless arguing with these PC automatons!
Give up now!

Jimbo
As usual, you have completely misunderstood my post.
So one last attempt to help you understand.
First read my original post here
http://bgafd.co.uk/forum/read.php?f=3&i=249127&t=249106
I will use bold to highlight one of the key points
As corrupt dictators and other ?lites remove vast sums of private and relocate them to financial centres like London, New York and Zurich, developing countries? economies are deprived of local investment capital and their governments are denied desperately needed tax revenues
Obviously, the term "corrupt dictators and other elites" refers to certain African dictators who squirrel the money overseas like Gaddafi and Switzerland.
In your typically over the top response here
http://bgafd.co.uk/forum/read.php?f=3&i=249176&t=249106
You state
The problem with David Johnson's, hand wringing, "Right on" view on the problem, is that it patronises Africans as almost "Child like". In other words they instantly and unwillingly yield, to the might of the multinational, brutal, capitalists. The Socialist, "Right-on", view is in effect, profoundlyracist, as it refuses to apportion any blame to the Africans themselves, they are depicted as mere help less, simpletons at the hands of villainous capitalists.
Now even a 10 year old can surely see that you are accusing me of something in the above paragraph which I have not stated i.e. as you can see I criticise corrupt African dictators and other elites and I DO NOT refuse to apportion any blame to the Africans themselves.
But you never do seem to get the point do you?
Cheers
