I tried hinting, in my usual ham-fisted way, but Shinryu couldn't/wouldn't get it......and there is the side-issue that use of such terms depersonalises real human beings and demeans the user of them.
What's wrong with 'porn actress' (even I draw the line at 'sex worker'.....)? I suspect that his use of such derogatory terms is indicative of a lack of experience with the real thing: it's the sort of talk you hear little boys using on street-corners before (or instead of) getting girlfriends.

Re: Dick Nasty find his level at last
The porn industry itself uses those terms in the titles and descriptions of films. It could be argued that this is one of many ways the industry devalues and objectifies women.
Are you going to refuse to buy any film with the words "whore" , "bitch" or "slut" in the title?
Having wrote that. I should add that I dont like to hear women described in those terms either. But as viewers of material that is full of such derogatory language can we really be suprised at men using it. There was a film out a few years ago called "Pigs In Knickers". Now that is offensive. I have yet to hear of a model objecting to being described as a a slut, whore or bitch on the box cover of a film or even object to such language being used in the films dialogue. Perhaps they should object then we can have more politically correct porn if thats not a contradiction in terms.

Re: Dick Nasty find his level at last
There's a parallel here with the recent discussion as to Rocco/Nacho/etc's treatment of the girls in their films.
I tend to agree with Dibsy (AAAARRRRGGGHHH !!!!) that some porn producers don't have any inkling that a lot of punters find their verbal and physical misogyny pathetic, disturbing and most heinous of all, unerotic.
And yes, I find that if the cover-blurb is offensive, then I generally find the contents to be the same (or just vapid), so I don't buy it.

Bermuda seems a popular place for all the stars: McEnroe, sheikhs, and now Inspector Callaghan. Perhaps we should send Steve to investigate.

Do you also find the titles of many UK satellite shows offensive? I am thinking of titles such as "Dirty Little Whores" or "Drunken Lesbo Sluts". Theres plenty more examples of such misogynistic words in the titles of TAC and TVX shows.
Re: Dick Nasty find his level at last
it's not about political correctness, imo - it's about context.
after all, it's commonplace for rappers to use nouns when referring to other black people which, if they came out of the mouth of a white person, would be considered grossly insulting. in the context of black urban culture though, they're an acceptable aspect of street terminology; a means by which such terms can be controlled and, eventually, defused by those they are used against.
if you think this amounts to a double standard, fair enough but you'd be ill-advised to throw such words around in a black neighbourhood without a s.w.a.t team to back you up.
this isn't offered as a strict parallel to the use of derogatory language when describing women in porn - after all, it's generally men who are using/encouraging the use of these words, not the women themselves - but the context aspect is relevant. many people in all walks of life are happy to call and be called things in a sexualised scenario that they wouldn't dream of expositing in the office, or over the dinner table. i don't see why we should expect adult actresses to be any different, in this respect.
not everyone is going to have the same reaction to the same words but, generally speaking, there's a broad understanding with regard to not only what we find it acceptable to say to one another but also, when.

Re: Dick Nasty find his level at last
I agree which is why you will notice I never refer to girls using those terms. But it seems that the people at The Adult Channel etc obviously dont think they are insulting the girls when they decide to call a series something like "Dirty Little Whores". So I guess this forum equates as the "dinner table" where these terms should be avoided. The men in the industry who dream up these titles are using them in the same context as the forumite who started this debate. Neither are being used in a sexual situation (as would be the case with dialogue during a scene) but as a description or name tag for models.
As regards words used in black street culture. The one thing that really annoys me is the number of white middle class kids who swagger around using these terms and speaking in accents which are obviously not their own. It was this phenomenom which Ali G cottoned onto. I dont think his humour went down too well in black communities despite the fact that its these white kids that hes mocking.
Apart from the safety issues you outlined in using certain "black street culture" words as a white person in a black area. There is one other very good reason not to do it and that is that it makes you look like a prat with no identity of your own.

Not really, just unimaginative.
With Brits, it usually comes over as a vain attempt to make it sound
'naughty'- perhaps a hangover from the bad old days.........

All good sense.
Especially the 'dinner table' comment: I have always regarded the forum as such, but it does result in awful ketchup/Daddies sauce stains on my monitor........
