I mistakenly thought that amonst the bitter slagging of of various celeb "cunts, "twats" and "slags" that it might boil down to a sensible conversation. Then I go and mention the word "book". "Whats a book?" I hear you illiterate bunch cry! "Its crap!" "Is it available on line?"you all cry back in unison with S56 standing at the back saying "The Book? Was that a hit by Pink Floyd in 71 when I met Susan just after seeing a great episode of Are You Being Served before I got told to go to bed by my mum".
OK you bunch of oddball philistine freaks! I am going to start a thread on favourite books. Please Steve56 and Wink Wink, Ladybird and Janet and John are not allowed.

I think Brian Clement (?), the creator of The Avengers, may have been behind the Captain Kronos movie.

The Shining was excellent, as was another of Kings books that was adapted to the screen, Salem's Lot. The original which is on video is the full length version, but avoid the TV version which is cut from 2 1/2 hours to 2 hours, and you lose the plot, the editing is THAT shite!! James Mason has never been more terrifying. The remake of House on the Haunted Hill is pretty good as is Jeepers Creepers which showed on Sky last night.

It's the norm for the 'big star' to survive, so it tends to kill some of the suspense. Just like you just know that unknown guy in the red shirt is the one who gets killed in every Star Trek away team.
Big budgets also tend to mean big special effects rather than suspense or inventive plots. Low budget stuff needs an angle to get it out there, something unique. I suppose the 'Evil Dead' is an example of what I'm getting at.

Nice tip, Bill. I'm still a video guy at the moment so will have to wait a long while.
