Some would-be smartarses have taken to calling this decade the noughties (lovely punwork there, Richard Whitely would be proud).

As for best decade/year/whatever---there's no such beast. For every God Only Knows or Itchycoo Park from the 1960s, there's an Obladi-oblada or Simon Says; conversely, for every Shaddupayuface from the 1980s there's a Pride (In The Name Of Love). Every decade and year features some good stuff and some godawful cack.

One word of warning---never, ever listen to anything by a group/artist with an American city in their name!

Beg to differ..............Atlanta Bliss of Prince (before he changed his moniker into a symbol) is about as good as a trumpet player you can get.

I apologise, Ace. I couldn't get beyond Kansas, Boston, New York Dolls, Chicago, John Denver etc. My mind was warped by being exposed to such anonymous, MOR cack.

New Yorks Dolls were fucking awsome. Johnny Thunders RIP
Agree with shite like Kansas, Chicago and Miami Sound Machine. How about America (horse with no name)? Pretty much sums it up eh, Caractacus?

How can you put Bowie, Roxy Music, T-Rex, Mott The Hoople and Slade in the same sentance as Cassidy, Osmonds and The Bay Shitty Rollers?
You have surpassed yourself...........again!!

they were all chart hits in 72ish,there was a little known birmingham band called blackfoot sue,had 1 hit called standing in the road still stands out today, didnt rate osmonds, rollers too plain and ordinary.
