I'll have 1 for Angus...anybody that can do a 10,000metre frantic run while playing and not stuff it has something
My second vote would be to whoever played the riff/riffs on lynyrd skynyrds Free Bird

Re: Best guitarist
Yes, John Fruscianti from the Chili Peppers is a worthy inclusion. Nice to see Jonesy from the Pistols mentioned again

Re: Best guitarist
i have to say i agree with Just, the last word and hitman....from perspective of someone whose pretty good player i dont aspire to some joe satriani level cos i can prob play lot of that with just practise and the songwriting isnt very good just technical...in terms of rock music the single most important things are riffs of which iommi, hetfield / hammett (kirk wrote enter sandman), cantrell, slash/izzy, morello/cornell, even cobain relly are the best riff writers, wish modern bands/myself were rattling out riffs that good instead we're all much further down the scale...oh well im only 20
ahem i digress...others who made a big dif guitar wise in recent years...tool, pearl jam, faith no more, janes addiction etc (these are mostly just alt movement bands ive mentioned here...loads of other good stuff too)
btw everyone seems to love floyd on here and i just dont get it, im into weirdass music like Mr bungle and stuff like that so its not like im closed minded i just find songs like Money and wish u were here totally unmemorable :S and guitarwise...piss simple....i adore High Hopes from 1987 division bell tho...which i imagine u all hate right?...but still only that song.......................................

Re: Best guitarist
High hopes is the only "real" Floyd song on the album, one of my faves as well, fantastic performed live, but Money? Wish you were here? piss simple? I'd love to be able to play them, but there's so much more to Floyd than those and Another brick in the wall, it was the combination of all of them as a four piece that made the band, especially in the 70's, you only have to listen to a classic live show say from 75 (The Ivor Wynne, Toronoto show is a fantastic bootleg, performance & sound wise) to see how different the live shows were from the album, Dark side in particular being sometime 15-20 minutes longer than the album version, Careful with that axe, Echoes, Dogs all superb pieces of music, to name but a few

Yes you got another one there Sandie, I was only listening to the Purple Rain album the other day, a fantastic album, Sign O the times as well

Re: Prince
Actually Sandie, Prince is multi-talented, BUT didn't play all the instruments on Purple Rain, he did on Batman and Lovesexy.
Purple Rain is brilliant, but I prefer Sign O The Times too. His live shows are fantastic. I saw Lovesexy in 1988 and it blew me away.
