I believe Freemasonry in Europe can be quite different.
But I don't see the point in spending money on joining an organization, the silly uniforms etc , the monthly meetings, lodge dinners and so just to be a charitable organization.
Just do away with the whole lot and give your money to charity. Or is there more to it?

It's nominally a "Christian" organization but with some dodgy fringe elements. Some claim it's derived from the Knights Templar or even further back like Ancient Egypt and the ceremonies are supposed to be about the building of S*******'* T***** in J********. I bet none of you can crack the code the last bit is written in.
Others claim that there are much Higher Degrees and even that it involves Satanism etc. etc.

No plenty of Catholics in Masonary, all religions are welcome, all colours and creeds. However, there is some elements of the Catholic press who spread complete bollox about Masonary. Basically talking about politics and religion are discouraged at Lodge meetings. We ask that you believe in something!

The penailties for disclosing the traditional secrets are symbolic rather than actual. Once upon a time they had more meaning, but this changed about 20 years ago.

There are elements which are splinter organisantions, which are not recognised by the UGLE, United Grand lodge of England. Any of these, particularly in parts of the USA and Italy which have racist overtones, are not recognised and are regarded with contempt by Freemasons.

Have you ever heard of friendship Mart, or perhaps you don't have many lifelong friendships. There is much to Freemasonary, but all this bollox that there is more to it, nudge, nudge, wink, wink etc, is complete crap.
