True... To much reptition will dull the sense but its also true that if the characters are dull & below average actors/actresses to start with a great script isn't going to save them
Jennifer Aniston & David Scwhimmer are(as Caractacus so rightly pointed out) 2 of the most boring/talentless people I've ever witnessed on a TV screen
cheers

Very true, but then NYPD Blue, Six Feet Under, The West Wing etc. are all US imports, often shown on Sky first.
C4 benefited greatly from the classy US import just as BBC1/ITV took such a po-faced attitude towards US produce after much criticism during the early 80's (and, worryingly, as if British product were somehow inherently superior.) As such - and abiding by the standard set by the other channels, it sees its in-house product as its main priority. The problem here - as you righty show - is that its in-house product has been shockingly degraded in a manner that only highlights the discrepency in quality when compared to its US imports. Hence the shabby treatment, I suppose.
At first C4 was supposed to be the ITV's own BBC2. Now it feels threatened by C5 (and is responding accordingly.) How bad is that?
p.s. by 'useless lanky git' I take it you mean Vernon Kay, although there are several others in contention.

I did indeed mean Mr V. Kay.
In its early days, Channel 4 was rather "Guardian reader" in its approach to programming----hardhitting documentaries, arthouse movies, with some (by comparison with their British equivalents) gritty imported dramas. It broadcast the RSC's stage production of Nicholas Nickleby (with Roger Rees, John Woodvine, Alum Armstrong, David Threlfall and Bob Peck among others). If some of the things shown did seem arty-farty, at least it was trying to be different to what else was on offer. Now, it's fighting for the moronic ITV audience (but not so moronic that they can't find the channel change switch on a remote).
I still hold out hopes that it can find its way back once it gets the "reality TV shite" virus out of its system.
