OK, OK, so you obviously know what you're talking about. My sceptical retort to your initial post was designed to either expose you as either a fraud, or an idiot. Or, to goad you to fight your corner (which you have done) and prove that you are the real deal. I have not heard of you, or your production company, which seemed odd as most British porno people either know each other, or know of each other. But you 'talk the talk' (Avid, Sony DSR, SMTP) and now you've given us more background it seems like you 'walk the walk.'

I most certainly don't think 'Ben Dover' is King. The brand name and marketing is good - but with all due respect to Lindsey, whom I know is capable of much better stuff - I think the content is appalling shite. Though it must be said he has sold quite a lot of it. And that's the problem in the UK. Now any nobhead with a crap camera from 'Dixons' can be a 'Ben Dover' (hence the housewives and cucumbers which you alluded to) there's less incentive to make quality movies.

Anyhow, good luck with the movies and when I'm passing 'Le Chambre' I may call in and say hello.

Officer Dibble ? Keeping the peace on his patch.

Hey Dib, it's amazing how quickly you can go off people!!! Nothing wrong with your thoughts, but could you maybe clarify exactly why you think the 'content is shite'? I would like to know honestly. Maybe not here but you can e-mail me ben@ben-dover.com You did qualify your comment by admitting that it is still after 8 years one of the best selling lines out there worldwide, so I am genuinely interested in you opinion. It is not easy for me to take a step back and be objective about what I do, sometimes I've shot scenes that I didn't think much of, and then they get nominated for an award. Other times I shoot a scene that I thought was great and when I'm doing the edit I think the opposite. Obviously if you are a fan of 'glossy' porn [or however you want to describe it] that would explain it. My style is not going to appeal to that audience. I got fed up with shooting 'high end' stuff and just decided to go back to basics with Ben Dover. So often when doing those big budget features I'd be editing and have a great shot that I couldn't use because there was a light stand or something in the background, which was not obvious at the time of shooting, looking through a tiny eyepiece on the old Beta 400. It was then I thought "who gives a shit about the stand. If the cameraman is in the movie no-one will think it strange. Everyone knows there are lights there!!" Hope to hear from you soon. As to this Tony Noble bloke, he sounds like he's got a Hans Moser fixation, [in the nicest possible way, Hans has been a major influence on my career] "We must have more crew!, more equipment, then I can pretend I'm a big shot" We've all been there, so it's quite normal. I just hope he's managed to get a jumbo pack of Valium on set!!!
