Sorry, what was I thinking of. Hunts are horsebacked social workers who discuss a fox's problems with it with a degree of sympathy before making it existentially challenged.

The whole hoo-ha over fox-hunting is actually the type of "smoke-screen" issue that Tyrant Blair and his yes-men bamboozle the "great" british public with constantly.

The main issue here is not of foxes suffering, or a class issue, it's an issue about freedom and bullying.
This government are no more "working class" (whatever the hell that is) than previous regimes, and that they are or that they pretend to speak for the taxpayers they patronise is a scandal in itself.
Take the newly promoted Alan Johnson, a local (despite never having been up here til it became his constituency) MP, a grammer-school educated drop-out who has the ordacity to push for university top-up fees, whilst his colleages pile more and more stealth taxes on us PAYE mugs. Left-wing my arse, these wankers aren't even that. (not that that is anything to be proud of)

Doh! Sorry wooders, I always view the posts in flat mode and forget to reply to the particular message.

I'll dress up as a fox and let carac and magoo chase me through the countryside as punishment!

Well said Retro,
at least someone else can see the wood for the trees.
It's just a cynical expediancy to keep the Labour back benches happy & toeing the party line in the pre election posturing.
Says it all that none of the front bench even bothered to attend the vote!
Seems they all had other more important business to attend to.
Illinoisblue has the facts right & proven in his previous thread. I've never ridden to hounds I can't stand horses! But I hunt on foot as suggested by Bimmercat & probably account for far more foxes in a year with my rifle than any hunt in the country. All I can say now is, Mr Winchester had better step up his supply times cos it's about to get busy!

Do you mean cruel to the fish??. Or to the worm or maggot impaled on the hook and then drowned??. BTW many fish are caught on a hook several times so they are either thick or don't feel a thing as is the normal reason given being cold-blooded.

So who's next?

The misanthropic mind of Tony Banks June 2004.
Tony Banks, MP for West Ham, (that hotbed of concern and knowledge about hunting) has made much of his Early Day Motion (EDM978 - calling for the return of the Hunting Bill, but if you want to judge both the sanity of Mr. Banks and the relevance of EDMs then take a look at his EDM 1255 published about a month later on 21st May 2004. It reads as follows -

"This House is appalled, but barely surprised, at the revelations in M15 files regarding the bizarre and inhumane proposals to use pigeons as flying bombs; recognises the important and live-saving role of carrier pigeons in two world wars and wonders at the lack of gratitude towards these gentle creatures; and believes that humans represent the most obscene, perverted, cruel, uncivilised and lethal species ever to inhabit the planet and looks forward to the day when the inevitable asteroid slams into the earth and wipes them out thus giving nature the opportunity to start again."

SERIOUSLY this is exactly what it says. It can be accessed directly from the Parliamentary EDM Database at: http://edm.ais.co.uk/weblink/html/motion.html/ref=1255

Live in West Ham? So who ya gonna vote for?
