Ok let me get this right, a sikh is allowed to carry a cerimonial knife, but somone like myself who is of Scottish ancestry cannot wear a dress knife on special occasions, it doesn't really seem fair? I'm by the way not racist in any fashion but common sense and equality seem to have from todays laws/guidelines.

I agree with you there Jim, John (hubby) carried a lead cosh when he lived in Canning Town. He says living in Clacton now is like a different world where you can walk the streets safe at anytime of the night.

I have had doubts about this thread ever since it was posted. Nevertheless you are allowed to carry knives if you have a reasonable excuse for doing so. To suggest that everyone carrying a knife unlawfully gets four years is nonsense.

I doubt that's true though... I've seen Scottish sword dancing, but nobody was arrested.
