I posted something on this thread last night- I'm not going to post it again....

It appears to have been deleted with no explanation at all? Why?

The thing about polls and surveys are they can be used to give your own views.

For example :

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jh ... nmus06.xml

Reading that people should be worried.

The trouble with surveys is that the sample is normally very small and often taken in areas were the 'shock' impact can be obtained for the poll to be justified.

I don't trust them (polls that is) and form my own opinions on what I know and what I see.

As Islamic fundamentalists often tend to be self hating women-fearers with an unhealthy attitude to anything they consider (sexually) immoral, I thought that rather than drop bombs on the Taliban, we should drop tons of pornography on to them. That really would screw them up.

Oh no! don't get me wrong. I wasn't judging anybody. I was just making a statement on what I see in MY community and how they interact with people.

No probs c.j. I know what you mean about Christians going 'over the top!' They're kinda freaky aren't they?

Personally I think 'devout' Muslims are more down to earth people than 'devout' Christians, who seem -as you say- 'on a mission'. Personally I see nothing wrong with religion, be it Jew, Muslim, or Christian, as long as they use that religion for strength, humility, and kindness. More of a 'general' guide to life, than a set of strict rules. (even though I'm athiest, I think religion can be a positive thing.)

I just hate it when people use religion for their own gains, as Muslims clearly do more than others. I don't think it's the 'faith' of Islam thats the problem. More the 'mindset' and 'temperment' of the middle eastern peoples.

Got your popcorn ready? Here goes. My father, when I was a child, was in an organization at that time. (Now they call them "gangs". If you study the gangs of Chicago in the 1970s and 1980s you'll see the difference). This particular organization's insigna was the six-point star or the jewish star. It seems to me that the inteligent dudes got more on the religious side of The Gangster Disciples (Of The B'nai Zakin Order I think) and the rest went on to either do good things for the community or do bad things and go to jail. The good thing about my father though is he didn't join to commit crime and he studied the religion thus becoming hebrew. How I became hebrew was even more simple. My father was living in a gang territory and I really didn't like coming around his house. He told me to just tell them that I'm hebrew and they wouldn't mess with me. Mind you I didn't know any of the hand shakes they do or nothing but they never picked with me anyway. This was 1991 and I was 25 years old I believe. At that time also I had already read books on the the black hebrew israelites of africa (the history of) so I knew about that stuff already so becoming a black hebrew israelite (or I just say "hebrew" or "israelite") was no problem. I also studied a bit but more on the history of black people in and of the bible than the bible itself. When I was a mid to late teenager I had the pleasure (or nightmare) of living with him so he exposed or tried to convert me to judaism at that time. I wasn't ready then. we had fights (not actual) about it and it was the first time I ever heard of not eating the swine. I even celebrated the jewish holidays with him. It was a learning process I really never gotten used to. Well since 1992 I stopped eating pork or beef and I just started back eating beef in 2002 (sparingly) and the only days I celebrate is New Years Eve or my or anybody elses birthday. I do eat on Thanksgiving, Christmas and any other holiday that has to deal with food but it's only to get together with family or friends. I tend to read on my own and I don't go to any synagogues as all black hebrews aren't the same. I do know of a few places I could go but choose not to. I listen to the good things any religion espouse and sift through to the truth. I've had dreads at one time and been mistaken as a rasta. (which to my opinion is close to being an israelite). I read the Final Call (the black muslim newspaper of the nation of islam) and I'll listen to a baptist (which I grew up as) preacher if he's saying something good. That's my story. Hoped you enjoyed it.
