Oh I highly doubt that my ancestery was an enslaver or I wouldn't be here in the US because for all we know some of those enslavers probably got kidnapped as well just like they tricked the native americans. What I was saying was you wouldn't uderstand being black and having racism and prejudice around you everyday when I go to work, they practice it in politics (national, federal, state, and local), white police treat blacks different than their own when the get stopped etc. That's what I'm talking about. Slavery in the MINDS of blacks still affect and effect us today. I'm not a his-storian but I read and study enough to know about the slave trade and what it did to blacks and I say blacks because that's the MOST heinous of the slavery of people. Don't think I'm being hostile towards you because I'm not. But if I were to try to get the same job you were getting, for example, and we had the same qualifications, same everything, I'd bet a nickel to a dollar YOU would get hired. That's the american way of practicing racism.

You cannot be 100% sure though c.j. The maths tell me that your ancestors had a massive chance of being slaves, that's not something I'm going to argue with, but it was just a point I raised to show you the pointlessness of laying blame/asking for apologies regarding the slave trade.

For -mainly white- politicians to give out public apologies is just as dumb as the government making 1 black man out of every thousand to apologise also, as there's a 1000-1 chance that they may be related to a black enslaver. You cannot deem every Arab a terrorist, and I wouldn't expect an apology from every Muslim I came across for the 7/7 bombings.

I agree, I cannot understand being Black, but I was just talking specifically about slavery c.j., and I guess even if you're a celtic/nordic/latin/slavic European, you can bet your bottom dollar that 'someone' within your ancient ancestry has been the enslaved 'and' enslaver at one time or other. The same rule applies to 'black on black' slavery that went on for thousands of years before Europeans came.

If that's the case then it isn't a fair system. I wouldn't want a job I got because of my skin colour either. This happens the other way around in Zimbabwe now where blacks get jobs before whites regardless of experience & education. It's a dumb way to progress, and I can only say that from what I can make out from my Black/Asian friends, it's not like that in England.

Ya know something? I just realized that trying to get an apology of slavery on blacks in the slave trade is like getting water from a rock. It can't be done. They're finding any reason not to.
