Actually, that was partly the point I was making. I've never seen an overweight person doing active service before - hence the surprise. I would have been equally surprised if any of the men were overweight, but AFAIK none of them were.

So now I'm wondering whether this is just a coincidence, or whether there are lower fitness requirements for women in the forces.

The only conclusion that I can draw by the swift manner in which you have defended Turney is that perhaps you are in love with her?

You see her as a week and feeble damsel in distress and you see yourself as her knight in shinning armour who will wisk her away from all these nasty bounders straight into your protective bosom.

You want to write copious love letter's to her proving your undying affection and holding her in highest reverential regard and eventually one day to take her up the aisle!

You won't be able to do that when you've married Turney!!
