I'm 35, when I was in Senior School, 1983-1988, virtually all the kids in the area where I lived at the time, had a bus pass (free), due to most of the kids going to the nearest school, were more than 2 miles from the actual school.

Damn, never had anything like that as a kid.

When I've seen kids getting the bus in Sheffield, they have a pass just to proove they're under 16, and pay child fare (about 40-50p I think).

As I have already mentioned, I don't mind doing this.

I'm not avoiding this way to deal with the situation, as I have already mentioned, the school has said that if children are to walk to school, they must be accompanied by an adult, who is Police Security Checked, & verified/trained by the social services in child care/protection, due to the incidents over the last year of child sexual assault.

If by the way the situation is going with the LEA/School, I might be doing this anyway, come September. I will have to see what happens in the meantime with the Appeals, & some of the parents are getting together later in august to decide what is going to be happening with this.

Snake, if it's just you walking your daughter to school, this will not affect you in the slightest. She's your kid, and there is no law to stop you walking your kid to school. Other kids join the procession, and then the situation might change.

I agree with what both of you are saying, & I know what kids are like, if there is 1 or 2 kids walking together, then by time they get to school, there's gonna alot more of them together.

On this point, this is why some of the parents are getting together in August, to see what's happened so far. And to discuss what measures/procedures are going to be used, when the possibility of us (most, or all involved in this issue) walking our kids to school, and how the guidlines by the LEA/School on multiple kids with adult walking to school will affect the situation.
