It's not often I agree with Warren but in this case I do.... Rock stars and other celebs/artists have been using their positions to shag groupies for years, and many of em were 'underage', you might not agree with it but this 'peado' thing has gotten way way out of hand.... Shagging an impressionable but shapely 15 yr old may be irresponsible and downright seedy but let's keep things in perspective, it's a long way from 'shagging kids', all yer musicians including revered souls like Hendrix were at it, with no questions asked, regularly Does it make their music any less great? Does it make them evil? No I don't think so.
As for Langham, let's see. Comedians are often flawed individuals, why should he be an exception? Richard Pryor is worshipped yet he was another deeply fucked up individual who did a lot of unpleasant things, but of course that another time & place...

One thing that does puzzle about this case is: someone bubbled Langham for having these images.... where do the prosecution then find this girl to make accusations against him? Think back to the Glitter case, in that respect very similar, he was all over the news after his trip to PC World and then suddenly he was accused of underage sex by someone later discredited... I know of other cases where someone accused of one crime by the police suddenly found themselves in the dock for these age old 'sex crimes'...
Glitter ran and hid, and has never answered the 'paedo' charges properly, Townshend faced the media, explained himself and saved his reputation and career... does having downloaded a few distasteful images really make someone a paedophile?

A senior copper who asked that very question recently got well and truely ( and unfairly) slapped down.

"Don't! Otherwise you will have to go through all your possesions and analyse their creators' activities and see they check out OK. That fucker Lennon - little girls, heroin, funding terrorists, having an untidy beard you're not gonna want to listen to All You Need Is Love any more, are you? Hemingway was an arse, used to shoot animals for pleasure, etc, etc. Trust me, half of these folk are artists BECAUSE they are flawed and fucked up, not despite it."

True I think. It all seems to be down to luck. Gary Glitter is reviled as a nonce, Pete Townsend seems to have been forgiven. Everyone knows Bill Wyman had Mandy Smith when she was 13, though maybe the fact he later married her is mitigation. Perhaps the bottom line is that The Who and The Rolling Stones are so much better than the Glitter Band. I wouldn't want to live in a world without The Who or the Stones, Gary Glitter is a different matter.

The Thick of It is excellent, but the one actor that show can't do without is Peter Capaldi, he is fucking excellent.

He's certainly in the thick of it now.

An odd one, this. The research and therapy claims for his own supposed abuse as a child don't quite click. For one, it's claimed well over 90% of the pictures Langham chose to keep were of young girls. Were they of young boys, then the psychological identifying might actually hold a little water. Not much, but some at least. They are my brothers and sisters, he told the court, piously.

Another thing: I've heard Langham has been in and out of psychotherapy for many years. Probably his drug use and alcohol addiction play their part here, but wouldn't his own alleged trauma been part of it too? Maybe it remains to be seen. He's certainly picked up the pompous lingo though.
