My own (admittedly very limited) experiences tell me that there's a correlation between a girl's level of recognition and her attitude towards the "fan-in-the-street":

The more famous the performer, the more likely she is to treat some starry-eyed, labrador-loyal fan like something malodorous and unpleasant stuck to the sole of her stripper heels and "bite the hand that feeds her".

Whereas your amateur housewives running their own sites are far more willing to be drawn perhaps not into a direct exchange of body fluids, but at least into a bit of friendly e-dialogue (provided of course that you sign up as a member first!).
