"Thief's investments benefit ministry
By MARTIN KAY - The Dominion Post(NZ) | Saturday, 13 October 2007
A record $3.4 million benefit fraud that humiliated the Social Development Ministry has one saving grace - the government agency stands to make a $400,000 profit.
The bizarre windfall comes from the profit Wayne Thomas Patterson earned on the overseas investments he made with about half the cash he stole.
Astute money management by Patterson, jailed for at least five years yesterday, means the ministry will secure more than $4 million.
Once the $200,000 it cost to investigate and prosecute him is deducted, the Crown will pocket $400,000 more than he stole."
Perhaps the fraudster could be put in charge of the government's pension fund.

21 million pooooonds is chicken feed compared to what our delightful state government down here in Western Australia grabs. So far they've picked up about $150M (Aust) and you dont even have to be a crook. Senior Cunt Jim McGinty ( Attorney General of WA ) makes sure that anyone who criticises HIM is declared a crim and their assets are confiscated to the point where they cant even afford a lawyer to defend themselves.
