For me to vote for? I'll decide nearer the election. But I'd definitely consider a vote for the Lib Dems if a few party grandees gave Hughes a bloody good kicking.

If you mean who will replace Ming---Huhne is perhaps the best known name being touted. His smarmyness has ruled himself out, and Cable is being all "I'm too busy being in charge to decide whether to stand." A few names being mentioned at the younger end of the parliamentary party. The trouble is, no one outside the party will know who the fuck they are. Bit like Lord Snooty with the Tories, then.

And there's no way Oaten would have a chance. I'm sure the political ego might tell him to go for it, but realistically, no.

Anyway, can you imagine PM Oaten at a G8 summit, and all the world leaders carefully checking their palms after shaking hands with him.

Nope, the British public might forgive most things, but faecaphilia isn't one.

I hate to be linguistically precious, but I've always thought Oaten really
should be 'Wheaten'.

More roughage in Oaten.

To drown his sorrows Ming goes on the mutha of all benders and is spotted worse for wear by fleet street's finest. The headline 'Ming binge'.

Also, if he lacked conviction or was a bit tentative at question time why were there no 'Ginger Ming' headlines ? Surely a missed opportunity.
