There should be a special corner of hell reserved for Paul Young for that version. No one---repeat, NO ONE---should consider recording it.

There are some songs that should be left alone.Joy Division's Love Will Tear Us Apart is one of them, others are Beatles or Stone's cover versions.

All Saint's should of been shot for their version of RHCP's Under The Bridge.

The problem with cover versions is that they're really hard to take seriously, especially if the original version is deemed a classic.

It also annoys me how the artist/band that does the cover tries to better the original version, but fail miseraberly. Thus why most cover versions are generally crap.

Cryin in the rain by a-ha, better than the original by the Everly Brothers.

So Joy Division is a bit of a sacred cow? Love will tear us apart is not my favourite song by them, and I think Paul Young can be an extremely emotive singer, but alas that is my opinion.
