While Carac is correct in saying that "pond life" has always existed and that every age has had its problems, there's no denying that the fabric of UK society has been steadily unravelling since around the late '60s / early '70s due to factors many and various - not least the twin evils of the burgeoning "rights" culture (or should we really be talking about a "rights" industry?) and political correctness.
And I believe that (sadly) things will only get worse before they begin to get better.
I don't think you can just shrug your shoulders and put it all down to media hysteria like Carac does. Crime has always been reported, and there have always been sensationalist rags like the Sun and the Mail eager to print all the gory details.
