Some good thing in Poundland e.g.

4 port USB hub and short USB cable
USB SD card reader

A while ago some small tools 3 for ?1 so got small pair of pliers, rolls of plumbing PTFE tape and small box for screws etc.

cartridges of sealer that would be triple the price in DIY store

Scientific Calculator - keys a bit naff but good enough to leave at work

Only buy alkaline batteries - Kodak last time I was in
try buying a Duracell or even shop own brand 9v for smoke alarms etc
anywhere else for under ?2.50 let alone ?1

Card of 40 alkaline button batteries

Some naff things to though!!!

The tools are shit, OK, PTFE tape is so-so, but I get mine in bulk now. The DVD-R discs are shit as well, BUT jiffy envelopes and freezer bags are top notch!
For a quid, you can't complain!

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

>Same here, must be a 'London' thing

Go to their web site and see this page, it lists all their stores. I bet there is one in a nearby town to you.

If you sort by area you see they have:

19 stores in Scotland / Ireland
14 stores in the North East
16 stores in the North West
14 stores in the West Midlands
17 stores in the East Midlands

There is even one in my local high street, Solihull.

Hardly a London thing !

Poundland was a place for bargains in the early days, now they're in competition with other low price shops. On some goods, like toothpaste, soap, toiletries, they put the prices up yo reach a pound - Savers is quite often cheaper for the same product.
