I agree that inaction has replaced tolerance, and I'd certainly like
to see far stronger and more frequent action aganst those who
'preach' hatred- as I've pointed out elsewhere there are many
so-far unexplored/unexploited legal avenues for dealing with
these charming people, without the need for all these double-edged
knee-jerk measures NooLab has introduced.
I'd just prefer not to return to the sort of 'extra-judicial'
measures once exercised so spectacularly back-firingly against the
IRA. Annoying as it is, sticking to the rules really IS what gives us
the moral high ground, as for example the Israelis have so utterly
and repeatedly failed to learn. I do agree that appeasement is
futile and self-defeating, as this is a battle of ideas in which one side
is totally immune to reason or logic; unfortunately, it would be a
slightly hypocritical tactic to go around killing anyone who disagrees
with the liberal tradition : -)
I'd also abolish these 'Faith' talking-shops until self-styled 'community
leaders' pull their fingers out and condemn terrorism by deed [i.e.
giving these people up and effectively arguing against it] rather than
tacitly aiding them. As to the notion [rather than the legal fact] of
'Britishness', our leaders have found out too late that the sort of
woolly liberalism and tolerance of opposition that more or less
encapsulates that quality is not one necessarily shared by many who
have emigrated here in recent years, although a ground requirement
that candiates speak at least basic English was a belatedly good move.
We've allowed the establishment of isolated cultural-linguistic ghettoes
tnat act as a breeding-ground for the sort of extremist trash that
fosters terrorist thinking. I know many good and utterly peaceful UK
Muslims, but as an atheist I find it hard to argue with them solely
against their religion as a source of violence- history is replete with
examples of the atrocities committed by 'muscular' Christianity and
one only has to listen to contemporary mainstream US opinion, or
consider subcontinental history since partition, to see that intolerance
and violence is the extreme end of almost every non-rational belief
system- as Peter Griffin's dad says in 'Family Guy: "believe this, or
I'll hurt you".
What the answers are, I don't know; but at least in my own mind I know
what the real problem is.

i started reading from the top and knew it wouldnt take long before someone produced the race card,it went from throwing out hamza,hamza an his sons ,non whites to muslims without anyone even making the comment .everyone assuming you mean non whites or assuming you mean all muslims.
if you want a terrorist living in your town,road,next door .ploting hate to younger generations which in turn will become our neighbours and also perhaps plotting mass terror in the form of bombs then you are completely nuts.
race does not come into this,would you want members of the i.r.a living next door,same thing applies,
yeah we all hate yobs and chavs and scroungers but to a degree there only damging themselves and our pockets a bit via tax,alot will grow out of it as time goes on,some wont and yeah if they get to bad we would want them out to.i dnt think things can get much worse then oraganised terror though,victims dnt have faces they pick a building were they know alot of people will be,be it children or the elderly and blow it up all while living next door to you,claiming of tax from our hard earned.
honestly imagine you were a terrorist living in anypart of the world especially africa or asia were rules are much stricter you would be hung,shot ,be-headed for even contemplating it,yet we are fully aware of what happens and provide them with the cash via benefits to go out and kill.
