Hi Terry
We have shot one film in HD up to yet, even though we are not keen ourselves the customers will expect it one day soon so we will do some in this forrmat.
John has been looking into doing AVCHD onto a 4.7gb disc but until this format becomes better known on other Blu Ray players other than Sony, Samsung & Sony Playstation 3 it will just another thing for him to play with.
We already get HD films in AVCHD from our friends and they are no different to the proper HD, like MP3 this format reduces the size enabling the HD film to play on a standard disc which is a cheaper way for us as we won't have to muck about with 25/50gb discs.
Our download speed in our part of Clacton is only 1mb due to old phone wires but they say this will be improved in the near future but this does make us aware of others in rural locations suffering the same as us.
People have watched our films made in VHS,8mm,HI-8,DV so why not HD as it seems the natural progress for long term producers.

Another format to watch out for its XviD HD which is rapidly gaining support from HD DVD players

I doubt that will be anything but a niche market. Xvid has had its day, there are more superior codecs out now
The biggest indication of this is if you look at HD downloads (official/non-official) they are mostly all in H264/AVC. It will be content that drives the adoption and Xvid is almost no where in HD.

As a model, im just happy to be shot, full stop- its up to the producer how and what etc......... As a consumer , CONTENT first, quality second....... it goes without saying the quality shouldn be rubbish, but if the content is poor, boring, then im moving on regardless .................. x
