"David it is the reason WHY you would not be allowed to join the Asian dance group that I think is worth discussing."
Personally, I disagree!

Max, you show a basic lack of understanding of the concept of free speech and hence democracy. You are not alone on this forum.
If I say Max Tranmere is an evil bastard who does nothing but wrong in this country and should be attacked, I am potentially guilty of an offence i.e. incitement to violence. And if one million people join in a protest outside your house chanting the same thing, they are also potentially guilty of an offence.
There are some that might argue that I am just expressing my right to free speech. What you and others on this forum do not appear to understand is that there never has nor never will be a right to UNFETTERED free speech in this country. In other words it is not within the law to incite racial hatred.
Thus you can argue that a political party such as the BNP that has the demonisation of black and Asian immigrants as a central part of its politics should be proscribed as Rodders suggests.
Before you start bleating on about "Oh this only happens to the whites not to the blacks and Asians", it is worth pointing out that a number of Islamic political groups in the UK have already been proscribed.
Just because a million people voted for the BNP is irrelevant to that discussion. There are hundreds of thousands of criminals in this country. Because there is a large number of criminals doesn't make crime ok, does it?

David, these million people each put a cross on a ballot form and put it in a box. Quite differnt from just a mob of a million people in the street.

Max,
I will leave it with it a final statement. Whether one person or ten million vote for a party that breaks racial discrimination law is completely irrelevant in law. If the party is breaking the law they should be proscribed unless they adhere to that law in words and actions.
That is it.

Hi
I think there is some truth in what Jim says. It is very, very difficult to predict change. Very few people, as I said, took Hitler seriously in Germany early on. Very, very, very few people predicted the global recession that we are now in.
When you look at the current situation that Britain is in -
Why would anyone make anything in this country now unless they had to in order to get round EU barriers? Asia is now producing both high tech and low tech goods at a fraction of the price the UK manufacturers can produce. The millions of jobs which were unionised and reasonably well paid in shipbuilding, coal mining, steel production etc have all but disappeared.
Even though the pound has been devalued by about 25% against the euro and dollar, January's export figures were worse than ever. So even though the value of those goods is going down to our foreign markets, they are still not buying them.
Much of British industry has been sold to foreign companies who are exporting the profits overseas. Many corporates are allowed to take their profits offshore to avoid UK taxes etc.
Even though the current price of crude oil is 80 odd dollars a barrel, which is very much below its highest price of 147 dollars in 2008, the price of petrol at the pump is climbing sharply.
It aint looking too good!
