Chris is VERY lucky to have an abundance of excellent seafood, VERY lucky. I don't eat meat now, but adore any fish.
I remember years ago any beach promanade always served up great seafood, but now Hygiene Regulations are paramount, I bet you'd be hard pressed to see anything like that these days. I was in Skegness 2 months ago, and being so close to Grimsby, I thought there would be something. NO chance, only greasy fish n chip shops with outrageous prices.

Re: soups
Well there has to be a few benefits for being stuck out on the toe end of the country.
This S/E gale is kicking up a nice surf, so i'm off Bassing this evening,
there have been a decent number of early Cod caught on the north coast (Newquay/Padstow area) so that is always worth a try.
The Fal & Tamar are producing a fair few decent Thornback Ray so that is always worth a trip. And Whiting & Conger are ever present on the rocky marks.
Here endeth CC's Cornish Angling report.

Re: soups
Ace yeah I have been to Rick Stein's resteraunt in Padstow, I was lucky enough to be invited by a big company doing some corporate entertaining.
The food was delicious, however the portions were a little on the megre side (Semi Nouveux Cuisine) so being a greedy fat bastard I stopped of at
Rex's in Roche for a Jumbo fillet of cod. (Hanging my head in shame).
I have met Rick a few times and he is a really nice guy, he has done a hell of a lot for the local area, and has given fish & seafood in general a boost over the last few years. Cornwall is officially the poorest county in the UK, what with tin mining, clay production & fishing all on the decline, thank god for tourism, Rick Stein & The Eden Project.
Cheers CC.
Todays tally 5 Bass, 1 Flounder, 1 Dab & a Codling + a nasty gash on my thumb.

Re: Cajun Crawfish Gumbo!!
17th Century French colonists to the US who settled in Northe-East US and Canada and then moved to Louisiana called their early places of settlement Arcadia.
In Greek mythology, Arcadia was a place of great pastoral beauty and contentment. Paradise on earth, like Croydon.
Arcadia=Cajun.
It's why they still speak a strange French patois in Louisiana stilled called Cajun.
Some very good early R'n'B came from this area ; famously Antoine 'Fats' Domino.
I must get out more.
