The good thing that F9/11 has done which I think is important and the film should be commended for is that its brought political discussion into the bars, dinner tables and offices in the US. For once politics is a talking matter. The film is making people talk about the elections this year. If the end result is that the percentage of people who vote this year is higher than in 2000 and the elections before then this is a good thing. It means the great democracy that the US professes to be is made more legitimate because more people are voting.

And whether you are left or right, you can only be more happy than more people are caring enough about politics that they are inspired to vote in an election.

Spook, you neglected to inform Bimmercat that the Torygraph isn't exactly what one would call a "progressive" newspaper.

For someone who claims not to be a particular supporter of Bush, you are going out of your way Bimmercat to constantly do hatchet jobs on Michael Moore.

Indeed The Telegraph is the most right wing of the broadsheets.

Not just Bush---Blair too. I backed his stance on action in Iraq because I couldn't believe that he would risk the lives of our servicemen without good reason. Boy, was I wrong!

I know Triumph Of The Will was propaganda for the Nazi party, but I watched that when it was on the telly. I watched DW Griffiths' Birth Of A Nation, which had a KKK hero and white actors in blackface raping white women. Both were offensive, both were advocating something I don't believe in, but hey, I didn't come out as a goosestepping cross-burner.

Among the inaccuracies within F911 will be a number of truths which many people are not aware of. As has been said, just watching a film and taking in some of its message doesn't mean we're brainwashed. We are thinking, reasonign human beings.

"But thats still pretty far to the left...right?"

Wrong - good old Conrad Black was not exactly a socialist and nor are the Barclay Brothers.

I'm sure there are some people who regard the Torygraph as a leftist rag - but I wouldn't want to meet them.

"Ok, so you all will go see F-911, knowing its not truthful, but believe the message in this film?"

No - if I choose to go and see the film I will do so with an open mind and because of the generally very good reviews it has received, especially in the US. Before seeing F911 I feel unable to pass comment on its veracity or its worth as a film - a constraint that obviously doesn't impinge on you.

"Oh...I am sooo confused!"

Yeah - we'd noticed.

Bear in mind whose leaders (and I include ours) were so gung-ho keen to get into the fight that they didn't come up with a decent strategy beyond toppling Saddam. It's been said before, but I hope Blair feels the pain of each parent, wife, husband or child being told their loved one has died as a result of his decision to go to war. I'm not so naive as to believe Dubya cares a toss.
