I live in the countryside and while I am firmly in the rural camp on most town vs countryside issues I would love to see the back of hunting.

It's ALWAYS good to read a Pink Floyd lyric!

Maybe you could import the Aussie way of Hunting

None of this Dress up Traditional Crap(which by the way is wasting valuable time) in chasing down the Pests

You pile 6 guys armed with guns/beer into the back of a Ute and go for a drive at night Spotlighting

Anything caught in the spotlights/headlights(mainly rabbit and occasionally fox)...Bang Bang your full of holes)

cheers

"You've obviously never hunted deer or turkey or waterfowl. believe me...the humans have the disadvantage 90% of the time, if fair chase of free ranging animals is the rule."

Depends how good you are at hunting.

The animal doesn't have an "advantage" - if it doesn't "win" the contest then its lost its life - if you don't win its a quick trip to the supermarket.

"Stalking deer on foot or trying to pass-shoot a 45mph duck will give one instant respect and appreciation for the game one is tracking. Its not easy."

You enjoy killing animals - not a very good way of showing them respect. How about stalking an animal so that you can take a close-up photograph of it - involves all the "tracking skills" you claim to enjoy and means that you don't have to kill an animal you claim to respect.

It is the act of killing animals for pleasure that I find objectionable -whether its huntsmen with the pack or a lone surburbanite attempting to commune with nature by killing an animal.

I'm not totally convinced that a ban on hunting is necessary - but I want nothing to do with anyone who enjoys killing animals for sport.

"Hunting is a sport and shooting is most definately a discipline that takes practice and skill.

Watching a pack of dogs rip up a deer, for the pleasure of watching it die, not to harvest the animal for food is sort of a sick hobby."

You may see a difference - but I see 2 groups of people who both enjoy killing animals, they are both engaged in a sick hobby.

I'm sorry Mart but I find your comment about Incest & Bestiality very offensive. What on earth have they got to do with it? Please try to stick to the issue. Trying to put hunting people in the same league as people that commit incest or bestiality just makes people respect your point of view less, and makes you look silly.
