Yes warren but its not what you was but what you are now that counts, England had some very busy ports they are all finished and built on for yups to live, Scotland and Wales trade with the E.U. would have to come through England via rail or road if we put road tolls just short of the borders which under E.U laws we are allowed to do your economies would be fucked before they started.

I am just pointing out facts warren, it would cost a lot more to bring your goods in by boat otherwise all these great ports would not have closed, therefore Scotlands viable route to trade whithin the E.U. is via England, and i must point out in my first post i am in the most agreeable terms with Scotland going it alone!thumbsup!

Chuffing hell, didn't expect this response.

I am half Scottish (Glaswegian, Protestant) half English. My mother thinks it will be a dark day for Scotland if they get independence. Take away Banking and Whisky and you have very little industry. Oil revenue is negligible. I live 7 miles from the Border in a straight line. Gretna is amazingly popular for housing at the moment as building land is cheap and kids get cheaper education / college fees. Council tax is also lower. If the SNP get in, and start local Income Tax, or a porridge tax, or worse Iron Bru levy then the town of Gretna will be hammered.

Hundreds of people in Gretna work in England, Berwick Upon Tweed has the same issue, could cause havoc with taxation, working rights etc.

As for Salmond he is so smug it hurts. He is getting backing from the EU, who like lots of small weak nations, not big powerful ones with minds of their own.............

Independence within the EU? Why bother, it's no sort of independence at all.

Scotland's economy is largely socialist, I believe state spending is above 50% of GDP, and that might have to change without the Barnett Formula. The reason Ireland is doing so well after years of poverty is that they have ditched de Valera's gloomy quasi-socialist policies of national self-sufficiency, and become a low tax economy which welcomes foreign investment. The SNP is basically a socialist party which would bankrupt Scotland in short order.

Oh, and "Sir" Sean Connery is an absolute complete and utter hypocrite, and to suggest otherwise defies reality. A so-called Scottish nationalist who won't live in his own country, a republican who went down on bended knee before the Queen for a knighthood? What a fucking tosser.
