The events depicted in Schindler's List, whatever dressing might have been used for dramatic purposes, occured within the lifetime of many people still alive today, as well as being generally familiar to millions of others. The general public would be hard pressed to tell you within 50 years either way when the events of the Patriot took place.
I say again, you are starting to sound like a Holocaust denier.

I do think the Americans were careless if indeed such atrocities from the British never occurred. Regardless of entertainment, if you're producing a film based on real events then you have a moral duty to reenact the truth as closely as you can.

I'm sure that if Braveheart was reenacted whereby the Scots massacred innocent civilians on the way down the English countryside, that there would have been complaints (esp if the film producers were English, and said film was being published by an English based film studio).

Warren,
Your use of semantics to avoid the obvious analogy between Schindlers List and The Patriot is not convincing. The passage of time does not excuse a distortion of history.
Mike.
But it is still hardly a crime to misrepresent historical facts in a fictional movie.
Agreed. THE PATRIOT didn't bother me, and a false reenactment of William Wallace may not bother all Scots. My point is, while some people may take these misrepresentations as facts, or fiction, because the film is based on history, you will also get some people who get upset, or may not care too much; as the case may be.

If you demonise a certain race/nation unfairly, you have to expect criticism (although complaining about such things just isn't cricket !laugh!).

Warren,

Your use of semantics to avoid the obvious analogy between
Schindlers List and The Patriot is not convincing.
It is obvious that the same audience would accept both films as the truth. Therefore The Patriot deliberately distorts history and misinforms the audience with malicious intent.

Semantics are not the words themselves but the meaning. You use words to digress and to avoid answering the question.
