"We should be hero worshiping those who make a useful contribution to society whether they be scientists, engineers, sportsmen, writers, musicians or the local school crossing woman who is out in all weathers but not the likes of Goody?. This country is all fucked up.?
Precisely the point I was making, magoo. I couldn?t have put it any better.

"As you say, our value-system is seriously fucked-up; and I can't see how
to correct it."
Then look a little harder, JJ. Don't you think it might be a start to volubly denounce these worthless, size 0, celebrity slappas and their obnoxious behavior, instead of f?ting them or even being accepting of them? Don't you think it might be an idea to make fun of those who fawn on them? Don't you think, as magoo as suggested, it might be an idea to once again celebrate real artistic or scientific achievement, to celebrate real feminine beauty? And what about promoting role models who are a little more accomplished than Jade Goody? Old fashioned ideas, I know. But I have hunch it might just work.

Heres a story from what some deem as 2 good role models from la la land
There's one incident from the Cinematheque tribute to Julia Roberts that you WON'T see when the show airs on AMC in December. Julia became quite friendly with Natalie Portman when they filmed Closer in 2004 and Natalie was one of the people to pay homage to her. Onstage, Natalie recalled that after their movie wrapped, she sent Julia a necklace that spelled out the word C--T. Only she USED The C Word. (The charity gala audience was thoroughly shocked.) With a chuckle, Natalie went on to say that Julia, in turn, sent HER a necklace that said 'LITTLE C--T." Again the crowd was aghast at the language. Natalie finished up with "By the way, since I'll surely be bleeped - I was referring to an intimate part of the female anatomy." We're guessing Natalie's whole appearance might be edited out. Our question is: Where do these women WEAR these necklaces?

If you allow the insertion of "competent and effective" before the first
noun, then yes, I have no problem with that.

My paper on this species new to science is currently undergoing peer-review
for the 'Proceedings of the Zoological Society of London'.
I'm not sure what my colleagues will make of the adjacent fossilised
Lamborghini Miura, though.

Deuce, good point and I think you got it in a nutshell.
The arsehole that spews out the toilet paper like O.K./Hello etc. is none other than Richard (Dirrrrty) Desmond owner the Star newspaper. That twat used to publish the magazines such as Asian Mother in-laws,fat and forty, etc. He's not stupid however, he sussed out the market for porn mags were about to go into a nosedive and where was the next big cash cow? 'Celeb culture', that's where.
As much as I hate Victoria Beckham for being, well, shite, and that's me being generous; she has a talent( I kid you not) for money grubbing and self promotion that is truly amazing, admittedly she's like a parasite that's feeding on the carcass of 'celebrity culture' and making a f*****g fortune.
Peoples attention span has lowered as well nowadays, you only have to take a gander at Channel 5 news, it's a subsiduary of the dark lords empire, it's format has been copied from Fux(sic) News of America and is able to understood by a ten year, no eight year old.
Gordon Gekko's motto in the film, 'Wall Street', "Greed is good", has never seemed so apt.
