How many new players do you think he'll need to buy this time? Wasn't it close to a dozen he got for Portsmouth after the short time he'd been along the coast?

Jiffy envelopes shares should go through the roof.

Normally, four or five. If you're the dodgy barrowboy type, at least 15.

So we can expect redknapp to buy a few through allardyce then? ;-)

Being serious. Was out on the town last night and yada yada yada from Toon fans "we will get Harry and stuff Man U etc"...totally unrealistic. I agree no fans should put up with drivel for season after season, Carlisle have been thru the mill recently but most of our fans are genuinely happy to be 2nd in Div1. Toon fans expect, for no historical reason, to be a superclub. On turnover they are in the 20 richest clubs in Europe, SJP is a superb stadium and the club genuinely get involved in the day to day life in Newcastle. But back to basics, they last won a trophy in 1955. The Premier League now consists of 3 divisions, Man U, Arsenal and Chelsea are the super rich, then you have another 10 clubs who will finish between 4th and 13th, after that you have the yoyo clubs who go up and down. Newcastle will do very well to make it into the UEFA cup. When I play Golf I expect to play to or just beat my handicap, I don't expect to tee it up with Tiger and kick his backside. As soon as Toon fans embrace the concept of reality they will be less frustrated.

I think that sums up Newcastle United as well as anything I have read recently.

What exactly does "I had no intention of wanting to go to Newcastle" mean? Was he playing silly buggers with the club, then? Either, I didn't want to go or I had no intention of going, and whichever was the case why not say so at the outset?

If there is a dodgier character in English football, I'm not aware of him.
