The marvellous thing about Al Murray is that you'd never guess he is an Oxford historian! Hence the tongue-in-cheek nature of The Pub Landlord- basically one giant pisstake; and him calling James Blunt 'Captain James Blount' when he was on his show recently. That is his real name- the record company dropped the 'o' and the Blounts are big landowners in south Shropshire.

Does it matter where he comes from?

We just know he wants a good hiding.

JD had a very brief film "career". He appeared in an arthouse movie called: 'A Zed And Two Noughts - Z.0.0.'.

Was that the weird film with Frances Barber?
Probably a Peter Greenaway film as most if his are arty/nudey
productions that can be a bit hit or miss

Just done check on IMDB and I guessed right. Part of story about a
woman losing her leg and then a mad doctor amputating her other
leg (he must have been bipolar) Sounds like a right barrel of laughs
No wonder Jim Davidson's in it
