Like I say elsewhere Alice, he's a fantasist until he says things that apparently implicate him, then his mind is suddenly coherent and his words convincing.
Are you suggesting that all testimonies in court are reliable? Don't you know witnesses are coached? In the absence of evidence the negotiation of justice becomes about constructing a plausible scenario or story which, in George's case, I believe has little or nothing to do with the 'truth'. We'll probably never know the truth and that's discomforting for people, but nowhere near as discomforting as being in jail for something you haven't done.

I've always thought he was an easy 'victim' for the not so honourable police we have in the UK. When they're under pressure to solve a case, it's usually the case that anyone will do - assuming they can concoct a feasible story that a jury will fall for.

Maybe after he's released and gets his compensation, they'll go after Boy George - the name's similar, so they can just tippex all the evidence. He's already been in court on a few counts, so even if he didn't do this he
deserves to go down for something :)

Barry George has a conviction for attempted rape in 1982 when he was jailed for 33 months. So he was capable of violence against women.

Did he kill Jill Dando? Well as the evidence is only circumstantial I think he ought to be acquitted. As others have said here, there is a lack of hard evidence against him and accordingly I don't see how he can be found guilty beyond reasonable doubt.

Hi Arch,
The authorities need to clear up this case and Barry George is the fall guy and it is obvious that he is being fitted up. If the jury fall for this perversion of the course of public justice and find him guilty on circumstantial evidence then he will end his days in a mental institution for the criminally insane.
He does not have to say much to implicate him, the evidence found implicates him greatly.
Not according to the judges who reviewed his case and ordered a retrial.
I personally would be far more discomforted if he was still walking around,
Why would you feel more comfortable with BG behind bars? I'd feel more discomforted if people were sent to jail on dodgy evidence.

I feel uncomfortable reading about this whilst his trial is underway- you cannot speculate on guilt in the media at this time!

"Not according to the judges who reviewed his case and ordered a retrial."

Sam Slater is wrong of course.

Exactly the opposite is true!

The judges who reviewed the case threw out the supposed gunshot evidence, but they didn't let George go free. They could have ended the matter there and then, but they didn't. They had the power to set him free but didn't use that power.

They thought there was enough other evidence against him to justify him being tried again and so they ordered a re-trial.

Exactly opposite to what Sam slater said.
