Of course you are absolutely right - they did, which is one of the biggest scandals of the many that this government has been involved in.

That is just one reason why we must leave the EU and regain the ability to control our borders - which is what most people here want, not the self-serving politicians of the wishy-washy liberal governments we have elected for the past 40 or so years.

What about Lord Home of the Hirsel? Scottish and a toff. Of the current crop, what about Malcolm Rifkind?

If most people want to control our borders by leaving the EU, they would vote a party into power which proposes to do that.

They havent nor will they at this election.

The worst thing Labour ever did was to sign up to the social chapter and give up control of its own borders by allowing freedom of movement. The Tories didn't get much right last time they were in power, but the opt out of the social chapter secured by John Major was vitally important and Blair signed it away.

Cameron can talk all he likes about imposing transitional controls on poorer EU nations and new entrants to the EU, but those controls are limited to two years, I think, under EU law.

Can you imagine what will happen here if, suddenly, thousands of Greeks decide to abandon their country and move lock stock and barrel to EU nations which are not currently as fucked as they are? If Spain goes the way of Greece?

If Turkey gets into the EU?

It annoys me too, but unfortunately if they covered a candidate's foreign policy on trade with Greece, only 4 people would bother listening. It's the public that demanded we heard far more about Clinton getting his dick sucked than what his economic policy was.

I think most people do want to regain control of our borders but people tend not to vote for fringe parties and all three major parties are in favour of us staying in.
