Us punters should know better than to judge

By all means nominate

Can't say I've heard of John Miles(maybe) or Hank Marvin but then as I don't play guitar its probably know surprise

I might have heard Michael Schenker in the Scorpions...Speedys Coming maybe.....definitelnot Sails of Charon...my fave 'DARK' scorpions song

Really unless you are in the industry you wouldn't know

Eric Clapton watching Jimm Hendrix and saying afterwards that he's the guv
is a load of bollocks in my books

Electric guitar maybe but the guitar is so much more

Friends of mine who were at a Don McClean(Bye Bye American Pie) many yers ago said he was onstage for 2 hours and his voice along with his guitar playing was like listening to perfection.

He was an artist-guitarists come in all shapes and forms and don't have to be loud or heavy to be worth a listen IMO

i still maintain that technicality is only one aspect of being a guitarist ...from the songwriting perspective (talking about rock) then riffs and lines are far more important and thus the best "guitarists" in that sense are the best "songwriters"....usually goes hand in hand....
