Mart, by five generations I mean five generations. The spokeswoman of the group had just become a grandmother. Ok they weren't trying to bring the child in, the rest of the too-young members of their tribe were minding it while the others attempted to get pissed. Said spokeswoman was causing havock refusing to believe we would not let her in because she was a "Nanna" and she had her "Nanna" with her as well. And her mother. And her daughter. And the grandchild thing in a pushchair in the care of some vaguely related lads. (Our manager caught a similar family feeding a baby Lambrini the other day, as another example of the mob)

I don't hold it against you trying to correct me on the matter. I'm sure it's the university education and reading the Guardian that has shaded you from experiencing this form of life. You seem to assume a generation gap of 15 years, which is evidence that you have litte awareness of this part of society.

Dibble is spot on with his comments about intelligence. The level of inbreeding amongst these scallies, and the limited gene pool they realistically have access to, produces some astounding results, which have to be experienced to be believed. And whilst I wansn't using poetic licence in this instance, I can excuse anyone from thinking that I was. Although it does remind me of my time with the probation service. So many educated people who are convinced they have all the answers. So much education, so little life experince or common sense.

I've often said I will make public my knowledge of the woeful catalogue of incompetence I have witnessed from these educated members of the professions that hold so much influence over society, but I fear the significance of it would be lost on the general public. But it has proved to me that a huge amount of people with degrees and slightly above average I.Q.'s can covince themselves so completely of their ability that they can be as dangerous as the element of society they strive to supervise.

I suggest you look up the word "HUMOUR" and the phrase "TONGUE IN CHEEK"

Once you have done this, my comments may no longer pass so over your head in the future!

Well the only person who appears to be convinced of their own ability is you.

"The scallies suffer from inbreeding" - and so must be beyond help as their degeneracy is irradicable. Although how its possible for inbreeding to occur amongst a large number population over a short time scale is beyond me.

The educated have no "common sense" and lack "life experience". Yep - those 3 years of further education really do cause untold damage.

Only you, with your presumably much higher than average IQ, extensive "life experiences" and copious gifts in "common sense" have the answer.

Its surprising that anyone with such a vast IQ would even try and base an argument on such a nebulous, woolly and undefinable concept as "common sense". But I must assume that this is just another example of your revelations that are beyond the ken of the general public.

But be assured, we are honoured that a guru of such extensive knowledge and wisdom deigns to attempt to enlighten the general public - even though we can barely manage to grasp the meaning of your priceless utterings.

And to think - with all your uncommon gifts you are working in the roughest club in town - your selfless devotion in working with the poorest in society is a lesson to us all.

as someone (karl marx?) once pointed out: for thousands of years 'common sense' dictated that the sun went around the earth.

and on the face of it, you would've needed a screw loose to disagree...

Why is it that you feel free to rubbish people because they have been through higher education but it never occurs to me to have a go at people who havnt.
There is a worrying tendency still to scorn "book learning", inferiority complex maybe?
And some posters equate University degrees with then having spent the rest of one's life in an ivory tower. Tell teachers that.
And frankly I don't believe your story about the 5 generation family.

My apologies Fastbike, I now see it wasn't you who referred to the 5 generation family. That poster has replied to me elsewhere which makes for further confusion.

"A smug holier than thou liberal"....cheap gibe.

"Step(sic) /illigitimate / refugees from justice in other countries where the extended family also causes misery /waifs/strays etc etc etc !"
Not a BNP sentiment?

This thread demonstrates precisely why the problem will never be solved.

Name calling, point scoring, twisting of words, exaggeration... our politicians would be proud.

Mart , it's natural to start out in life optimistic and self confident . Socialism is an optimistic creed as it places trust in human nature . As you grow older wearier and more experienced you will learn that in this wicked world it just does not work in practice . I have found some of the posts in this thread highly significant , Number Ones where he mentioned that the bulk of the Scallies are quite likeable was of great interest to me , confirming my view that most people are intrinsicaly moral , or can be helped to be . However he also noted that there is an irreducible rump of those who are beyond salvation . Public policy should be measured by whether it encourages those who could be saved to be so , and contains those who cannot . Clearly a formal discussion would require some intellectual rigour in defining these conditions , for now lets just say that I know what I mean . I have to say that IMHO the very substantial public resources being consumed here are actaully making the problem worse, and please bear in mind that the money could do so much good elsewhere .
