Warnings On My Pipe Tobacco - Bloody Cheek!
Re: Warnings On My Pipe Tobacco - Bloody Cheek!
That is most certainly true, unless one smokes a pipe, of course.
Re: Warnings On My Pipe Tobacco - Bloody Cheek!
Well, I have finally come to my senses and have decided to heed my wife's entreaties and return to the pipe, despite the sage pronouncements of the estimable Perrin.
So as to draw a line under this matter, I must point out that I do not claim that pipe smoking is a healthy pastime - far from it. However, it should be noted that it is far healthier than cigarette smoking. For one thing, provided it is done correctly, pipe smoking is many times less likely to cause lung cancer than cigarette smoking. Indeed, it is far less damaging to the cardio pulmonary system all round than cigarette smoking. This has been proven by many people, myself included.
Now, whilst it has been shown that pipe smokers, on average, do in fact live longer than people who do not smoke at all, I must acknowledge that it is perfectly possible for a person to live to a hundred, having been unhealthy for many years - just as it is entirely possible for a person to die at fifty, having led a healthy lifestyle.
Finally, my advice is: do not start smoking. However, if you smoke cigarettes, and wish to stop, but find that you, personally, cannot give them up, try switching to a pipe - at least to start with.

Oh dear, you have spoiled the thread by adding that error-laden post.
(For readers wishing to see the Director's Cut ending, so to speak, of the thread, I refer you to my previous post - above).

My dear Regina,
I have never blamed anybody else for the fact that I choose to smoke.
