I also think that if, say, Labour put in more regulations on banks, et al, 10 years ago then I'm sure there would have been outrage that the 'socialists' have started poking their nose in and restricting growth. They would have screamed about bureaucracy and red tape strangling the economy, etc etc....
I agree, though. We should curb greed and mindless lending, etc.
One thing I do remember as a kid in the 80s was what Neil Kinnock said about giving people the right to buy their own homes: He said it would create a shortage of council housing which would shoot up house prices, making them unaffordable for most workers.
Well, he ended up being spot on. The late 90s was full of news about how even well paid teachers/nurses couldn't afford houses which inevitable led to a need for 100% mortgages and easy credit, which has finally got us in this mess (or at least contributed).

No.
Despite being as batty as a caveful of pipistrelles, Shami v. cute.
I luv her and want to do nasty but non-cookery-related* things,
etc.
I'd suggest as a replacement that poove with the funny name who
writes for the Grauniad- can't remember his name... Hugo Furrypiece?
Tristram Wetflange?
*unless it invloves melted chocolate or tins of beans-n'-franks.

Well then build more council houses instead of wasting billions of taxpayers money propping up greedy banks use the money to build rent or buy social housing, this would help to get the economy moving again and hopefully kickstart the housing market. !wink!

"you scruffy clog-wearing Northern oik."
That's a bit rich coming from someone who wears a pink bandana, and Tena pants for work.
Still got the A.S.B.O ?

Again, I'm no economist....but:
Wouldn't building lots of new, affordable council estates lower the prices of houses people own? That would mean that people paying mortgages would be paying way, way more than what the house will be worth and they'd tell the lenders to shove the house up their arse. This would lead to the same economic crisis we have now, so we've not solved the problem at all.
Of course, with an ever growing population the government will have to invest in affordable housing a lot more than they're currently doing. It won't affect the current climate overnight, though.

I like to feel 'mountain fresh' at all times- just in case I
suddenly have to play tennis or ride a horse along a deserted
beach. In Neasden, you just never know when someone [for some
strange reason, always with a Pringle sweater knotted around their
shoulders] will suggest a game of beach volleyball.

Nah, that expired ages ago.
Still can't go within 200 metres of Anne Widdecombe, though.
400 metres if I'm wearing the frogman's outfit.

Well im no economist either..... but surely by putting the money directly into the economy would get things moving faster than giving it to the banks and hoping they will then lend it to people to buy houses, it isnt working.

The trouble with parasites is that you know you shouldn't scratch them no matter how much they itch.
If people feel they are better off on the dole than working for you're either a shit employer, something job centre plus could be interested in knowing or just a prick who knows fuck all making silly stories.
I suspect it's the latter but either way your boring me now and if I need further comments from an arse I'll fart.
