Re: Pelham 123
You've lost me. What insults? Do tell. You do know what 'I thought you were made of sterner stuff' means, I trust? It wasn't anything other than an observation that I was surprised at your reaction to 'Threads'. Please let me know where I've been OT recently. I think my postings on here are usually to the point, hopefully informative, maybe occasionally amusing, generally short, and lacking in spite, malice and invective towards fellow members. Never are they ad hominem attacks. And the bit about the christmas card list was a joke obviously. Jeez, what's rattled your cage? Are you sure you aren't cofusing me with someone else?

Captain Wow, when recreations of Paris and Venice are built for Las Vegas shopping malls do you convince yourself they're original because the context is different ?

Re: Pelham 123
I saw Taking Pelham 123 tonight with two friends and they thought it was ok and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
As for being a remake? Well I havent seen the original one but then given what tjis move was about and its modern setting and the fact it was based on a book Im inclined to believe that the movie is not a remake and for the fact Travolta takes a train full of people hostages maybe the only similarity it has with the orignal movie.
i will compare notes when i get around to seeing the Walter Mathau original.
The movie I saw was more about how the authorities fuck things up and how the internet has a part to play in it so given these elements were not around back in the 70's i would say it was a fresh take on it even if you might consider it a remake.
Is it worth seeing? Well if you go to the movies to be entertained for under two hours then yes its well worth seeing.
So glad there was no sex scenes and car chases in it so it gets the thumbs up from me.

Re: Pelham 123
Missed a bit here where he says..............
"well I haven't seen the original"............
I have seen the original several times; I've seen the 2009 remake once (more than enough).
I have also applied a thought process and come up with a conclusion of my own.
That conclusion is made with a little more research because I've seen both the original and the 2009 remake.
My conclusion is that the 2009 version is a re-make of the 1974 original film.
Numerous people share my opinion, but this isn't about numbers. Just because my opinion doesn't comply with your opinion and Tony Scott's opinion doesn't make it any less valid.
As I've mentioned before Tony Scott has his own agenda for not wanting his film called a re-make.
