Aaahh.. Memories of the 60's when you could walk anywhere at any time of the day or night in London and not worry about being mugged..When we'd go to Beat City later to become Tiles for the all nighters on a Saturday.. One night there was this Welsh guy called Tom Jones who was playing support to Joe Brown and his bruvvers..I wonder what ever happened to that Welshman as he showed promise.

I remember seeing the Floyd in the mid 60's at an all nighter at the Ally Pally and walking out on them at around 5-6 am as they were just making a load of noise and not playing any music. That night there were Eric Burden and his New Animals, Arthur Brown and my memory is too far gone to remember who else playing as well. I've also been told that I went to see the Doors at the Roundhouse in 68 ? Another time I took a friend who was in A & R at EMI to the Marquee to see The Crazy World of Arthur Brown before they had a recording contract with Track Records and the guy came out raving about the support band, a then unknown Ten Years After with Alvin Lee... In 69 Long John Baldry was my neighbour and he took my girlfriend and me to see the Stones in Hyde Park.. That was amazing to walk in through back stage and sit right in front of the stage in the press area.. There was also the night that I went to see P.P. Arnold at the Cromwellian club and her backing group were The Nice...

Those were the days my friends..

Still at least I can look forward to D.S.O.T.M being re-issued in full surround sound in the near future...

I started dj'ing in the clubs back in '67 and that was at The Cromwellian and I only retired in '95 :) It was my hobby and I only worked at clubs where I knew the owners and was paid on my own terms.. No cash just Scotch & Coke all night..Though I did work at one club for cash once but I had to give them money at the end of the night as my bar bill was more than the pay :)

P.P Arnold was on the Immediate label owned by Andrew Oldham and the Small Faces were on Decca when they started and now you're really trying my sad old and dead memeory to think if they ever worked together.. But it does ring a bell some how.... A connection that comes to mind is.. P.P. recorded "the first cut is the deepest" which Rod Stewart who joined the Small Faces later on when they became "The Faces" also recorded.

And ummm..Nope sadly I never met Mary Hopkin..LOL

First Cut was also recorded by Mr C. Stevens before he found religion. Great song.

Immediate IM 068 America/The DiamondHard Blue Apples of The Moon..

Steve .. You've got a good memory.. You would have got on well with the late music journalist, James Hamilton who could even tell you the colour of the records producers grandmothers nail varnish :)

I had to sort through a few oldies to find that one and it was in the last pile. I still have a playable copy of it plus Brandenburger on IM 072 with a pink/fushia label..
